In my own words, I have many fond memories with Break the Cycle of Hunger.org while in Tanzania, but perhaps my most transformative experience stems from my first clean water exploratory trip to Moshi and Arusha, Tanzania where I stop the car and walked down the long dirt path to a happy sound of children laughing and playing next to the river.

It was mid-day lunch break from their middle school back up on the hill and all the kids were running around and finally stopping to bend down and fill their water jugs from the river, before afternoon classes resumed. This was the same river where in full view upstream I could see four head of cattle standing in and where a man drove his car into the water to wash it and where six boys were urinating in.  Yes, the same river where at least thirty children were filling their water jugs in to drink from.  That’s when it all became clear and you say out loud, “this cycle MUST change and change now!”

I am deeply committed to making sure that Break the Cycle of Hunger’s mission is to help end the global water crisis and save lives by preventing, detecting, and treating health issues due to drinking poor water and ending the Malaria Crisis in our lifetime.
